Harvey initially qualified with a BA.LL.B from the University of Cape Town and subsequently studied Australian law through Deakin University. In addition to being admitted in Australia he is also a South African Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer and practised as a Partner with a Cape Town law firm before relocating to Australia in January 2004. He worked in the commercial department of Belbridge Hague, a well known Albury firm in 2004 and 2005 and joined Hicks and Oakley in 2006 shortly before the merger. He is an Accredited Specialist in business law and practices mainly in the areas of:

Harvey is married with two children and his interests include travel, squash (both as a player and International referee), fishing, hiking and camping with his family, golf and cricket.
