David is practising in the areas of wills and estates, property and business matters.
He holds Law Institute Accreditation as a Specialist in Wills and Estates, and is a past Chairman of the Probate, Wills and Administration Committee of The Law Institute, now the Succession Law Committee of which he is an active member and delegate.
David was admitted to practice in Melbourne in 1968. For 27 years he was a Partner in a large Melbourne law firm. In 1997, together with Murray Chessell, he established Chessell Williams to support the substantial following of business and private clients established over many years.
In 2006 Chessell Williams merged with Hicks & Oakley to become Hicks Oakley Chessell Williams. David retired as a Partner of Hicks Oakley Chessell Williams in June 2012, however remains as a Consultant, leading the wills and estates department.
