Expertise

Evan has practiced exclusively in Family Law since his admission in early 2020. Evan initially trained with a multi-disciplinary firm and, prior to joining Hicks Oakley Chessel Williams at the commencement of 2024, practiced at a national family law firm, conducting matters in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland.

Evan takes a practical and pragmatic approach to family law and guides his clients through the confusing and often stressful minefield of parenting and property disputes with compassion and empathy. Evan strives to empower his clients to be in control of the decision-making process with an equal focus on litigation strategy.

Evan is a proficient advocate, having appeared for clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria, as well as in alternative dispute resolution.

Evan’s practice comprises all aspects of family law and he is adept in both property and parenting matters. Evan is particularly focused on matters involving Binding Financial Agreements (both drafting and setting aside), high conflict parenting matters, matters involving family violence, and financial settlements involving complex asset structures.

Evan’s gregarious personality allows him to utilise a wide network of professionals, both within and external to HOCW, to assist him to advise his clients holistically and offer the best support for his client’s needs.

About Evan

Outside of work, Evan enjoys travelling, good food (and a few drinks) with friends, and is an avid follower of the English Premier League.

Evan is passionate about providing opportunities for those less fortunate. He offers his free time as company secretary for a local educational charity, where he has volunteered for over 11 years, managing a scholarship program for financially disadvantaged school students.
